Edson Paiva kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. Edson Recife was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 6th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Sydney Mandrak showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Donato Mello, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. 12 minutes into the match, Botafogo Devil's goal looked a bit too open when Germano Garcia came free, but Tarcisio do Nascimento reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mauro do Nascimento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tarcisio do Nascimento having to interfere. Tarcisio do Nascimento stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Germano Garcia's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. Ruy Dias sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Fernando Baptista in the 26th minute of play forced Pierrot Calcio's goalkeeper Sydney Mandrak to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 27th minute, one of Pierrot Calcio:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Pierrot Calcio. When Mauro do Nascimento came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Pierrot Calcio fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mauro do Nascimento couldn't finish the play.

The supporters of Pierrot Calcio booed when Botafogo Devil was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Frederico Sousa didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Botafogo Devil getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Carlos Fernando Baptista hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 59th minute, Mauro do Nascimento managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pierrot Calcio's supporters rose to their feet, but Mauro do Nascimento was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. In the 69th match minute, Botafogo Devil was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Frederico Sousa to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Pierrot Calcio's Sydney Mandrak got control of the ball when Carlos Fernando Baptista tried to sneak it across the goal line. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Botafogo Devil walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
