When Germano Pena fell near the penalty area in the 11th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Canal's protests and gave Germano Pena a yellow card for diving instead. Lino Godoi kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. After 20 minutes, Jailson Prestes made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Solar Paulistano's Júlio Branco tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. When Durvalino Santana fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Canal's protests and gave Durvalino Santana a yellow card for diving instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Luís Gustavo Ferraz in the 31st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Júlio Branco saved Solar Paulistano from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Solar Paulistano's Zézinho Dantas got a free kick in the 32nd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Solar Paulistano's zone, Jailson Prestes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Júlio Branco came out of the goal and Jailson Prestes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Jailson Prestes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Luís Gustavo Ferraz came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Canal fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luís Gustavo Ferraz couldn't finish the play. In the 43rdth minute of the game Luís Gustavo Ferraz who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Solar Paulistano's Júlio Branco was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 46th minute the ball was on its way in behind Solar Paulistano's goalkeeper Júlio Branco, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jailson Prestes stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When the match had gone on for 59 minutes, Durvalino Santana took a quick shot and it went in 1-2 without a chance for Júlio Branco to make any attempt to save it. Luís Gustavo Ferraz struck a weak shot in the 63rd minute. Júlio Branco didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Canal. Júlio Branco made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luís Gustavo Ferraz in the 65th minute. Thanks to some nice moves Luís Gustavo Ferraz could shoot a difficult shot in the 68th minute, which Júlio Branco however easily saved by the left post. 69 minutes into the match, Solar Paulistano's goal looked a bit too open when Jailson Prestes came free, but Júlio Branco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Abe Stad made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from André da Rocha in the 70th minute of play. Canal's Luís Gustavo Ferraz got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jailson Prestes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Júlio Branco read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 80th minute of play. Luís Gustavo Ferraz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 87th minute of the match, Luís Gustavo Ferraz got a very nice opportunity to score, but Júlio Branco was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Júlio Branco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jailson Prestes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Luís Gustavo Ferraz scored 1-4 in the 98th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Júlio Branco, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Júlio Branco made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luís Gustavo Ferraz in the 102nd minute.
