In the 14th minute Breno de Brito shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wesley Silva saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Simão Romero fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wesley Silva having to interfere. Império Alviverde's Simão Romero got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Império Alviverde getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Zé Roberto Paraibano hit a great ball. Gláuber Martins showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Iuri Arruda, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. Iuri Arruda received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Gláuber Martins tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Breno de Brito had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 46th minute, one of Guanabara F.C.:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Guanabara F.C.. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

After a rather tough play, Império Alviverde's Ramiro Cerezo got a free kick in the 54th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gino Dante in the 58th minute of play forced Império Alviverde's goalkeeper Gláuber Martins to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 59 played minutes Império Alviverde got a freekick which was hit by Fabinho Seco. Gino Dante fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gláuber Martins having to interfere. Guanabara F.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Gino Dante was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gláuber Martins breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Giuseppe Melo during the 93rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After recieving a nice pass, Império Alviverde's Zé Roberto Paraibano tried to score from far away in the 94th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. If Breno de Brito had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Império Alviverde were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Guanabara F.C. for a fine match.
