The tension between the U.S. Palermo Uxx and the Espera SS players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 6th minute there was a penalty for Espera SS. Sílvio Goiano stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Joélson Coutinho. 1-0. 9 minutes into the game, Eliseu Fontes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. U.S. Palermo Uxx's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Espera SS the free kick. After 9 played minutes U.S. Palermo Uxx got a freekick which was hit by Eliseu Fontes. If Jairo Barral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 16th minute, U.S. Palermo Uxx's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Jairo Barral fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Joélson Coutinho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Raúl Trigo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With an all-out effort, Espera SS's Joélson Coutinho threw himself towards the right post 22 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Raúl Trigo, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Diguinho de Moraes managed to get in a good position for a shot. U.S. Palermo Uxx's supporters rose to their feet, but Diguinho de Moraes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wilton Britto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. U.S. Palermo Uxx's Conrado de Lima got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Raúl Trigo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joélson Coutinho having to interfere. Joélson Coutinho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Raúl Trigo in the 39th minute of the match. Jairo Barral received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Joélson Coutinho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Jairo Barral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 44 played minutes U.S. Palermo Uxx got a freekick which was hit by Lino Batista. In the 47th minute Espera SS were awarded a corner. Sílvio Goiano went to the cornerflag to take it. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Raúl Trigo to make the kick off. When Espera SS's Raúl Trigo in the 52nd minute got a chance for a shot 52nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye U.S. Palermo Uxx's goalie prevented a goal. Conrado de Lima sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out.
