The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. But to his dismay, Adhemar de Mendonça quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Adhemar de Mendonça sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Lavajinha SS's Thomás da Silva got a free kick in the 16th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers José Augusto Vargas in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Abel de Andrade saved Lavajinha SS from getting behind. Adhemar de Mendonça received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Abel de Andrade tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Remo Gonçalves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Edmundo Barros hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. In the 27th minute of the match Allan Freire shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Abel de Andrade showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 29 minutes into the match, Rezende's goalkeeper Jarbas Arantes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Waldemar Nunes. Jarbas Arantes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Remo Gonçalves, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Remo Gonçalves was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 35th minute. Lavajinha SS's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. 35 minutes into the game, Lavajinha SS's Waldemar Nunes nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jarbas Arantes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. If Remo Gonçalves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Waldemar Nuness short, quick shot in the 42ndth minute got Jarbas Arantes to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Waldemar Nunes's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 44thth minute, Jarbas Arantes skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Rezende's Jarbas Arantes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Erivaldo Vaz in the 48th minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

In the 54th minute, Remo Gonçalves got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 58 played minutes, Lavajinha SS's Bernardinho Rodrigues shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Jarbas Arantes came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Lavajinha SS reached it. 60 minutes into the match, Rezende's goal looked a bit too open when Remo Gonçalves came free, but Jarbas Arantes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Remo Gonçalves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Egídio Gomes fell near the penalty area in the 66th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Rezende's protests and gave Egídio Gomes a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Rezende's Egídio Gomes got a free kick in the 66th minute. In the 76th minute, Remo Gonçalves made a precise shot to the right of Jarbas Arantes. Rezende's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. Jarbas Arantes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Remo Gonçalves in the 81st minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Remo Gonçalves in the 91st minute of play forced Rezende's goalkeeper Jarbas Arantes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 93 minutes into the match, Rezende's goal looked a bit too open when Waldemar Nunes came free, but Jarbas Arantes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Remo Gonçalves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jarbas Arantes having to interfere. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Lavajinha SS fully deserved thier win.
