The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luciano Queiroz helped the player get up and apologised. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Aloísio de Sena in the 11th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jarbas Arantes saved Rezende from getting behind. Jarbas Arantes came out of the goal in the 13th minute to try and stop a shot by Quixelo AD's Aloísio de Sena. But to his dismay, Aloísio de Sena quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 16th match minute, Quixelo AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nico Gaspar to maneuver through the defense. Adhemar de Mendonça might have been able to make a better finish in the 17th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ronaldo da Rocha. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Adhemar de Mendonça ran back to his position shaking his head. Ronaldo da Rocha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Augusto Vargas, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Jarbas Arantes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aloísio de Sena in the 21st minute of play. When Aloísio de Sena came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Quixelo AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aloísio de Sena couldn't finish the play. Jarbas Arantes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aloísio de Sena, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 33rd minute Aloísio de Sena shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jarbas Arantes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 40 minutes, Mathias Mandrak mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Quixelo AD and the Rezende players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 40 played minutes Quixelo AD got a freekick which was hit by Mathias Mandrak. Quixelo AD's Nico Gaspar got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 46 minutes of play, Quixelo AD's Nico Gaspar made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jarbas Arantes was left in no man's land by his defense there! Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Aloísio de Sena was the one to do the kick off. Rezende's Jarbas Arantes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 52nd minute of the match, managed to save Rezende from getting a goal against them. Nico Gaspar struck a weak shot in the 59th minute. Jarbas Arantes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Quixelo AD. When José Augusto Vargas came up free with the goalie in the 78th minute, the Rezende fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that José Augusto Vargas couldn't finish the play. If José Augusto Vargas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Rezende's Jarbas Arantes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 92nd minute of the match, managed to save Rezende from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aloísio de Sena in the 93rd minute of play forced Rezende's goalkeeper Jarbas Arantes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ramón Martins hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. Quixelo AD played a much better game than Rezende and deserved their victory. The Rezende players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
