Dudu Palmeira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Phoênix Futebol Clube's zone, Vito Linhares stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Maurinho de Souza came out of the goal and Vito Linhares tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Maurinho de Souza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Delfim de Medeiros in the 46th minute of the match. In the 47th minute the ball was on its way in behind Phoênix Futebol Clube's goalkeeper Maurinho de Souza, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The MARICÁ FUTEBOL CLUBE players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Phoênix Futebol Clube were winning 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Dudu Palmeira stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Phoênix Futebol Clube's Dudu Palmeira got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Vito Linhares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Maurinho de Souza having to interfere.
