The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Emílio Berger fell near the penalty area in the 7th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored JARDIM GUANABARA's protests and gave Emílio Berger a yellow card for diving instead. Emílio Berger hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. Through an outstanding action, after 25 minutes, Olavo Vianna successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. When Germano Novaes fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. In the 28thth minute of the game Hernani Dante who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but JARDIM GUANABARA's Olavo Vianna was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 31st minute Hernani Dante shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olavo Vianna saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 33 minutes had been played when some careless play by JARDIM GUANABARA's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Sandro Pereira was slow to take the kick. During this time Ubirataia FC's players had a chance to rest. It was a well-played corner which Fausto Lira managed to volley towards the net. Hernani Dante's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Olavo Vianna read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 37th minute of play. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Hernani Dante was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 56 minutes, Marcus Tavares managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. JARDIM GUANABARA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marcus Tavares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Ubirataia FC booed when JARDIM GUANABARA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Glauco Toscano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Hernani Dante in the 79th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Olavo Vianna prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Emílio Berger hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. Chico Reis hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. 89 minutes into the match, Ubirataia FC's goal looked a bit too open when Glauco Toscano came free, but André Luiz Martins reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. JARDIM GUANABARA's Olavo Vianna played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hernani Dante in the 90th minute of play. Wesley Sousa took the ball and in the 92 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Olavo Vianna. Olavo Vianna dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. In the 96th minute Glauco Toscano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but André Luiz Martins saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
