Duarte Prata made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. In the 6th minute, Pedro Luís Leão ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Evaristo Meirelles was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. The audience was convinced that Manuel Queirós's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Evaristo Meirelles was relentless in the 14th minute of the game. Pedro Luís Leão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Evaristo Meirelles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Atlético Mauá:s Evaristo Meirelles showed great skill when he stopped Chicão Falcão:s penalty. Umberto Sousa's late challenge caught a Pantera Futebol Clube's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Umberto Sousa helped the player get up and apologised. In the 25th minute, Umberto Sousa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Manuel Queirós in the 27th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Evaristo Meirelles prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Evaristo Meirelles came out of the goal in the 28th minute to try and stop a shot by Pantera Futebol Clube's Manuel Queirós. But to his dismay, Manuel Queirós quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. After having played for 47 minutes, Gilvan Arce managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Atlético Mauá's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gilvan Arce was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

Duarte Prata made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gilvan Arce in the 53rd minute of play. 55 minutes into the game, Gilvan Arce cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Duarte Prata was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Gilvan Arce sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Laércio Munhoz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Pedro Luís Leão got free with Evaristo Meirelles in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 67th minute, Manuel Queirós fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Evaristo Meirelles, passed just outside the right post. Manuel Queirós struck a weak shot in the 68th minute. Evaristo Meirelles didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pantera Futebol Clube. After a rather tough play, Atlético Mauá's Umberto Sousa got a free kick in the 69th minute. Pantera Futebol Clube's Chicão Falcão couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Atlético Mauá. After 79 played minutes, Pantera Futebol Clube's Chicão Falcão shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Evaristo Meirelles came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Pantera Futebol Clube reached it. 80 minutes into the game, Edu de Almeida was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Atlético Mauá's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Pantera Futebol Clube the free kick. Edu de Almeida kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. A collision led to Atlético Mauá getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Marcinho Mazza hit a great ball. After recieving a nice pass, Pantera Futebol Clube's Chicão Falcão tried to score from far away in the 84th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Pedro Luís Leão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 92 minutes, Juninho da Costa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Atlético Mauá and the Pantera Futebol Clube players grew even worse after the yellow card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Atlético Mauá fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 92nd minute. Penalty! Evaristo Meirelles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Manuel Queirós in the 97th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Atlético Mauá's Marcinho Mazza got a free kick in the 99th minute. Pantera Futebol Clube's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
