José Pedro Maciel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 13th minute, Dedé Aguiar left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Jacques FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. 17 minutes into the game, Manoel Viana recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of José Pedro Maciel. Manoel Viana showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. If Manoel Viana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Telmo Vargas during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Manoel Viana to strike the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Jacques FC's zone, Anderson Mendes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Elói Vieira came out of the goal and Anderson Mendes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Piratas.FC getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Mauro Costa hit a great ball. 60 minutes into the match, Piratas.FC's goal looked a bit too open when Manoel Viana came free, but José Pedro Maciel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpected shot in the 63rd minute by Vladimir Viana got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. If Adelino de Alcântara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Piratas.FC getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Edinho Hoffmann hit a great ball. After 71 played minutes Piratas.FC got a freekick which was hit by Adelino de Alcântara. Manoel Viana's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but José Pedro Maciel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 75th minute of play. Piratas.FC's José Pedro Maciel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dedé Aguiar in the 81st minute of play. José Pedro Maciel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Manoel Viana, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Vladimir Viana might have been able to make a better finish in the 86th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Elói Vieira. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Vladimir Viana ran back to his position shaking his head. Piratas.FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
