Vânderson Luz hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. Paulo Renato Varela succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-1 in the 47th playminute. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

In the 95th minute, Vânderson Luz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luiz Fábio Nogueira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tiago Gabriel Paiva having to interfere. In the 98th minute, Luís Fábio Marquez got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
