The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 6 minutes into the match, SELERINTHIANS's goal looked a bit too open when Cláudio Freire came free, but Ronaldão Guedes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 8th minute, Hortêncio Baiano reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Ernesto Pires. The goal made the score 1-0. Ronaldão Guedes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dênis Godoi, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. In the 15thth minute of the game Hortêncio Baiano who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Skibiriba's Ernesto Pires was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 18th minute, Cláudio Freire hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ernesto Pires made a fantastic save in the 19th minute, when Hortêncio Baiano sent off a good shot on target. Bebeto Batista sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. SELERINTHIANS's Hortêncio Baiano got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 28 minutes of play, Skibiriba's Dênis Godoi made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ronaldão Guedes was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ronaldão Guedes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cláudio Freire, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. 36 minutes into the match, SELERINTHIANS's goal looked a bit too open when Rubinho Couto came free, but Ronaldão Guedes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Skibiriba booed when SELERINTHIANS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedro Pirani didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in SELERINTHIANS's zone, Duarte Couto stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ronaldão Guedes came out of the goal and Duarte Couto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Duarte Couto fell near the penalty area in the 46th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Skibiriba's protests and gave Duarte Couto a yellow card for diving instead. Duarte Couto kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Dênis Godoi made a kick off. After 50 played minutes SELERINTHIANS got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Fernando da Cunha. After having played for 53 minutes, Rubinho Couto managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Skibiriba's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rubinho Couto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 55th minute, Skibiriba's Cláudio Freire dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. After 61 minutes of play Skibiriba's Cláudio Freire was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After 62 played minutes Skibiriba got a freekick which was hit by Cláudio Freire. After a rather tough play, Skibiriba's Dênis Godoi got a free kick in the 66th minute. Bebeto Batista fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ronaldão Guedes having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bebeto Batista in the 69th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ronaldão Guedes saved SELERINTHIANS from getting behind. In the 73rd minute of the match, Wilian Ribeiro tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Ronaldão Guedes saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Hortêncio Baiano in the 78th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ernesto Pires prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some fancy dribbling in the 80th minute, Bebeto Batista managed to get in a good position for a shot. Skibiriba's supporters rose to their feet, but Bebeto Batista was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ronaldão Guedes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ernesto Pires showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hortêncio Baiano in the 85th minute of the match. Zé Augusto Tinoco charged in rather forcefully in the 87th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Zé Augusto Tinoco the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Skibiriba's Duarte Couto got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ronaldão Guedes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Duarte Couto in the 88th minute of play. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Skibiriba walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
