Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Régis Batista kicked off to start the match. If Régis Batista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 8th minute the ball was on its way in behind Fumo's goalkeeper Cléberson Lucas, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Cléberson Lucas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Afonso Moura in the 9th minute of the match. In the 10th minute, Régis Batista left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Poli FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. A hard shot 15 in the game by Toninho Veloso from a close distance when the talented Geovânio Tavares managed to make a qualified save. Poli FC's players were relieved. 18 minutes into the match, Fumo's Toninho Veloso sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Geovânio Tavares narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Caetano de Carvalho in the 20th minute of play forced Poli FC's goalkeeper Geovânio Tavares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Geovânio Tavares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Caetano de Carvalho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fumo's Caetano de Carvalho got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 27thth minute of the game Caetano de Carvalho who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Poli FC's Geovânio Tavares was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Toninho Veloso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Geovânio Tavares having to interfere. In the 30th minute, Caetano de Carvalho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Geovânio Tavares was out of position in the 32 minute of play, and Caetano de Carvalho capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Caetano de Carvalho really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Caetano de Carvalho in the 37th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Geovânio Tavares saved Poli FC from getting behind. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Richard de Sena during the 39th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Fumo's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Hélder Linares in the 42nd minute. After taking down the ball on Fumo's corner Hélder Linares fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Geovânio Tavares quite easily take care of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Poli FC's zone, Caetano de Carvalho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Geovânio Tavares came out of the goal and Caetano de Carvalho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Caetano de Carvalho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Geovânio Tavares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Caetano de Carvalho made a kick off. When Caetano de Carvalho came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Fumo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Caetano de Carvalho couldn't finish the play. Ivo Garcia's late challenge caught a Poli FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ivo Garcia helped the player get up and apologised. Poli FC's Geovânio Tavares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Caetano de Carvalho in the 56th minute of play. In the 59th minute of the match, Afonso Moura got a very nice opportunity to score, but Cléberson Lucas was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. If Caetano de Carvalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Germano Silveira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Geovânio Tavares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Caetano de Carvalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ivo Garcia struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Geovânio Tavares didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fumo. Caetano de Carvalho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Geovânio Tavares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 86th minute Caetano de Carvalho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Geovânio Tavares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Caetano de Carvalho in the 87th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Geovânio Tavares prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Germano Silveira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Geovânio Tavares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Caetano de Carvalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fumo's Antônio Carlos Albuquerque got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 93rd minute, Caetano de Carvalho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Geovânio Tavares was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1.
