João Adolfo Ferraz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Geovânio Tavares read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 19th minute of play. In the 20thth minute of the game Erik Secco who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Poli FC's Geovânio Tavares was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Válbson Queiroz's late challenge caught a Tottenham's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Válbson Queiroz helped the player get up and apologised. Válbson Queiroz kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. With an all-out effort, Poli FC's Otávio de Barros threw himself towards the right post 23 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Régis Batista, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After a defensive mix-up in Poli FC's zone, Erik Secco stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Geovânio Tavares came out of the goal and Erik Secco tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If João Adolfo Ferraz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 30th minute, Afonso Moura ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Otávio de Barros was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Otávio de Barros was out of position in the 33 minute of play, and Régis Batista capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Régis Batista really showed his touch with that goal: 3-0. 3-1 became the score in the 36th minute when Erik Secco elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Geovânio Tavares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Erik Secco, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 51st minute, Oséas Lira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tottenham's supporters rose to their feet, but Oséas Lira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Geovânio Tavares breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Poli FC booed when Tottenham was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jonathan Gonçalves didn't get a good kick on the ball. João Adolfo Ferraz might have been able to make a better finish in the 55th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Geovânio Tavares. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. João Adolfo Ferraz ran back to his position shaking his head. Erik Secco in the 57thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Geovânio Tavares, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After some careless play in the Tottenham defense, Rodrigo Barral kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Otávio de Barros. The Tottenham fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Otávio de Barros should have stopped the shot. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Erik Secco in the 64th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Geovânio Tavares saved Poli FC from getting behind. With a little luck, Poli FC's Geovânio Tavares got control of the ball when Erik Secco tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Erik Secco came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Tottenham fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Erik Secco couldn't finish the play. Régis Batista sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Tottenham's Jonathan Gonçalves got a free kick in the 72nd minute. In the 78th minute, Claudinho Vergílio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Poli FC's Geovânio Tavares got control of the ball when João Adolfo Ferraz tried to sneak it across the goal line. Erik Secco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Geovânio Tavares having to interfere. Otávio de Barros showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Afonso Moura in the 93rd minute of the match. A collision led to Tottenham getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Jonathan Gonçalves hit a great ball. After 96 played minutes, Poli FC's Claudinho Vergílio shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Otávio de Barros came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Poli FC reached it. Many of Tottenham's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Tottenham may have spent more time on the ball, but Poli FC were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
