In the 15th minute, Jerônimo Pinheiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bacatuba's Carlos Eduardo Zonta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by João Adolfo Ferraz in the 17th minute of play. 20 minutes into the match, Erik Secco had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Carlos Eduardo Zonta. Bacatuba's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Erik Secco was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Carlos Eduardo Zonta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Erik Secco made a kick off.
