The referee ignored Umburaninha's protests and gave Nestor Cunha a yellow card for diving instead. Nestor Cunha hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. Naldo Reis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Doriva Massa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Doriva Massa's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Naldo Reis was relentless in the 18th minute of the game. Naldo Reis made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Nuno Camargo sent off a good shot on target. With a little luck, Atalho SS's Naldo Reis got control of the ball when Marcelo Loureiro tried to sneak it across the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Paulinho Aguiar in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Walmir Paranaense prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Atalho SS's Naldo Reis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nestor Cunha in the 25th minute of play. A collision led to Umburaninha getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Nuno Camargo hit a great ball. Paulinho Aguiar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Walmir Paranaense tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Walmir Paranaense stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Zé Pedro Senna's shot from short distance in the 33rd minute. If Paulinho Aguiar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 38 minutes into the game, Atalho SS's Paulinho Aguiar nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Walmir Paranaense made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Zé Pedro Senna stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the game, Zé Pedro Senna cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Walmir Paranaense was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Zé Pedro Senna could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 63rd minute of the match, but Walmir Paranaense made a huge save. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Maicon Mineiro during the 64th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Umburaninha booed when Atalho SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Maicon Mineiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 68th match minute, Umburaninha was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hugo Azevedo to maneuver through the defense. Atalho SS's Zé Pedro Senna got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 74th minute of the match, Paulinho Aguiar tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Walmir Paranaense saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 75th minute Atalho SS were awarded a corner. Zé Pedro Senna went to the cornerflag to take it. A collision led to Umburaninha getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Nuno Camargo hit a great ball. Walmir Paranaense acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 76th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Zé Pedro Senna. Walmir Paranaense made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paulinho Aguiar in the 82nd minute of play. During the 85th minute of the match Nuno Camargo completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Nuno Camargo a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 85th minute, Nuno Camargo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paulinho Aguiar in the 89th minute of play forced Umburaninha's goalkeeper Walmir Paranaense to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Umburaninha's Nestor Cunha got his second yellow card of the match in the 90th minute. The referee ordered Nestor Cunha off the ground. After 91 played minutes Umburaninha got a freekick which was hit by Nestor Cunha. If Zé Pedro Senna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Umburaninha fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Atalho SS were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
