But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nilton Mattos couldn't finish the play. When the match had gone on for 42 minutes, Jacinto Araújo took a quick shot and it went in 3-0 without a chance for Claudinho Loureiro to make any attempt to save it. The audience was convinced that Jacinto Araújo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Claudinho Loureiro was relentless in the 46th minute of the game. Elder da Fonseca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jarbas Tasso having to interfere.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Marcelinho Pirani made a kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jacinto Araújo in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Claudinho Loureiro saved Jojoca FC from getting behind. Renato Baiano charged in rather forcefully in the 53rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Renato Baiano the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Cruzeiro S.A booed when Jojoca FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Renato Baiano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kléber Dantas struck a weak shot in the 54th minute. Claudinho Loureiro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cruzeiro S.A. The Jojoca FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Claudinho Loureiro should have stopped the shot. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jacinto Araújo in the 72nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Claudinho Loureiro prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Kléber Dantas came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the Cruzeiro S.A fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kléber Dantas couldn't finish the play.
