The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Clube Regatas Brasil booed when Sao Pao was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aníbal Schmidt didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 20 minutes, Rafinha do Valle mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sao Pao and the Clube Regatas Brasil players grew even worse after the yellow card. Rafinha do Valle kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. 22 minutes into the match, Adilson Vale dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Régis Moura, 2-0. After a rather tough play, Clube Regatas Brasil's Rômulo Machado got a free kick in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Aníbal Schmidt's late challenge caught a Clube Regatas Brasil's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Aníbal Schmidt helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Sao Pao's Aníbal Schmidt got a free kick in the 38th minute. After 43 minutes, Rômulo Machado mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Clube Regatas Brasil and the Sao Pao players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Clube Regatas Brasil getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Rômulo Machado hit a great ball. With his leg Régis Moura managed to avoid a goal in the 48thth minute, when Clube Regatas Brasil's Renato Perez fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dagoberto Rocha was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 60 minutes, Adilson Vale managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Clube Regatas Brasil's supporters crossed their fingers, but Adilson Vale was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Adilson Vale fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Régis Moura having to interfere. In the 66thth minute of the game Renato Perez who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sao Pao's Régis Moura was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 68th match minute, Sao Pao was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rafinha do Valle to maneuver through the defense. 74 minutes into the match, Clube Regatas Brasil's Adilson Vale sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Régis Moura narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Dagoberto Rocha could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 76th minute of the match, but Carlinhos Massa made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adilson Vale in the 79th minute of play forced Sao Pao's goalkeeper Régis Moura to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alfredo de Queirós hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Sao Pao's Dadá Santos got a free kick in the 85th minute. Renato Perez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Elder Santos struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Régis Moura didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Clube Regatas Brasil.
