In the 5th minute, Cafu Cearense hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Naldo Veloso, 6 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Cafu Cearense kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. 8 minutes into the game, Olívio Pitta was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sauva SS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FLA REAL ORIGINAL the free kick. The supporters of FLA REAL ORIGINAL booed when Sauva SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Olívio Pitta didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Gugu Moura had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. FLA REAL ORIGINAL's Válter Batista got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With his leg Osvaldo Lira managed to avoid a goal in the 18thth minute, when FLA REAL ORIGINAL's Válter Batista fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Olívio Pitta took the ball and in the 20 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Róbson Zonta. Róbson Zonta dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Róbson Zonta stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Denílson Abraão's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. If Válter Batista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cafu Cearense recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 30th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Róbson Zonta showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Olívio Pitta, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Válter Batista sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Válter Batista received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Osvaldo Lira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Róbson Zonta showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Olívio Pitta, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Denílson Abraão was the one to do the kick off. Sauva SS's Olívio Pitta got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of FLA REAL ORIGINAL booed when Sauva SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cafu Cearense didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Sauva SS getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Haroldo Arce hit a great ball. Válter Batista fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Osvaldo Lira having to interfere. Sauva SS's Osvaldo Lira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Válter Batista in the 63rd minute of play. 66 minutes into the match, Denílson Abraão dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Róbson Zonta, 0-2. Válter Batista might have been able to make a better finish in the 72nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Osvaldo Lira. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Válter Batista ran back to his position shaking his head. After 79 played minutes Sauva SS got a freekick which was hit by Cafu Cearense. Olívio Pitta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Amadeu Faria hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match. Denílson Abraão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 98th minute. Róbson Zonta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sauva SS's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
