In the 4th minute, Cabeco's Eusébio Lara seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Eusébio Lara the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Cabeco protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Eusébio Lara had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 3rd minute, one of Cabeco:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Cabeco. After some careless play in the Araucaria defense, Renato Nogueira kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Válter Medeiros. The Araucaria fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Válter Medeiros should have stopped the shot. When Cabeco's Renato Nogueira in the 20th minute got a chance for a shot 20th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Araucaria's goalie prevented a goal. Manfredo Marquez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cabeco's Zé Macedo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Manfredo Marquez in the 45th minute of play. In the 47th minute, Waldir Cunha got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Manfredo Marquez was the one to do the kick off. In the 53rd minute Araucaria were awarded a corner. Leonel Xavier went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Araucaria's Leonel Xavier to fire away a dangerous shot which Zé Macedo despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. If Waldir Cunha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Renato Nogueira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 68th minute, Manfredo Marquez ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Zé Macedo was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Waldir Cunha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zé Macedo having to interfere. A collision led to Cabeco getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. João Adolfo Vergílio hit a great ball. In the 82nd minute, Waldir Cunha got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Waldir Cunha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Zé Macedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Manfredo Marquez in the 93rd minute of play forced Cabeco's goalkeeper Zé Macedo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Renato Nogueira scored 3-2 in the 94th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Válter Medeiros, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Araucaria had won after a very even match.
