In the 20th minute Denílson Mineiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Augusto Arruda saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dorian Jacinto's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Carlos Augusto Arruda firmly grabbed it by the left post. Gernando Galvão took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Breno Valle, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Bebeto Moreno fell near the penalty area in the 35th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Montenêses's protests and gave Bebeto Moreno a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Montenêses getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Bebeto Moreno hit a great ball. After recieving a nice pass, Ferroviária's Alberto Massa tried to score from far away in the 36th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. 38 minutes into the match, Montenêses's goal looked a bit too open when Allan Trancoso came free, but Gernando Galvão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dorian Jacinto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Augusto Arruda having to interfere. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Denílson Mineiro made a kick off. Allan Trancoso's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gernando Galvão read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 51st minute of play. Carlos Augusto Arruda showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dorian Jacinto in the 53rd minute of the match. In the 56th minute Denílson Mineiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Augusto Arruda saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bebeto Moreno's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Carlos Augusto Arruda read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 70th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Denílson Mineiro in the 72nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Carlos Augusto Arruda prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Denílson Mineiro kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Ferroviária's Alberto Massa got a free kick in the 77th minute. After some careless play in the Ferroviária defense, Dorian Jacinto kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Carlos Augusto Arruda. The Ferroviária fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Carlos Augusto Arruda should have stopped the shot. Carlos Augusto Arruda took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dorian Jacinto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Chico de Mendonça hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Denílson Mineiro in the 91st minute of play forced Ferroviária's goalkeeper Carlos Augusto Arruda to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
