Cláudio Reis recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Arapira SC's Luís Fábio Mendes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Denílson Mineiro in the 47th minute of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The supporters of Montenêses booed when Arapira SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Serafim de Barros didn't get a good kick on the ball. Montenêses's Afonso Faria got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Cláudio Reis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 58 played minutes Montenêses got a freekick which was hit by Afonso Faria. Arapira SC's Tony Favoretto couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 59th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Montenêses. When Bebeto Moreno was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 61 minutes had been played. In the 66thth minute of the game Eliseu Vieira who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Montenêses's Gernando Galvão was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Eliseu Vieira came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the Arapira SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eliseu Vieira couldn't finish the play. After 91 minutes, Chico de Mendonça mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Montenêses and the Arapira SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Chico de Mendonça kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. Montenêses's Gernando Galvão played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cláudio Reis in the 96th minute of play. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Arapira SC had played much better football throughout.
