In the 20th minute of the game, Giuseppe Peres landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. Lucas Barbosa charged in rather forcefully in the 20th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Lucas Barbosa the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Luís Fábio Mendes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mário Berger in the 41st minute of the match. If Waldir Cunha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

In the 59th minute, Manfredo Marquez left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Araucaria fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. After a rather tough play, Araucaria's Lucas Barbosa got a free kick in the 66th minute. Arapira SC's Luís Fábio Mendes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by André Melo in the 73rd minute of play. In the 75th minute, Dorival da Rocha got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Válter Medeiros made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cláudio Reis in the 76th minute. 81 minutes into the match, Arapira SC's goal looked a bit too open when Manfredo Marquez came free, but Luís Fábio Mendes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Araucaria had played much better football throughout.
