Spectators: 7295 (Terracing: 5473, Seating: 1677, VIP seats: 145) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Frédson Garcia got the match started through his kick off. After a rather tough play, Araucaria's André Melo got a free kick in the 2nd minute. Araucaria's Manfredo Marquez managed to work through Montenêses's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Manfredo Marquez dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. After some fancy dribbling in the 7th minute, Waldir Cunha managed to get in a good position for a shot. Araucaria's supporters rose to their feet, but Waldir Cunha was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gernando Galvão breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Waldir Cunha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Gernando Galvão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Montenêses booed when Araucaria was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Manfredo Marquez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Válter Medeiros didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Frédson Garcia went, in the 25th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Gernando Galvão was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Leonel Xavier. An unexpected shot in the 38th minute by Waldir Cunha got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. If Waldir Cunha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frédson Garcia in the 44th minute of play forced Araucaria's goalkeeper Válter Medeiros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Manfredo Marquez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Gernando Galvão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Manfredo Marquez stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Araucaria's Mário Berger got a free kick in the 53rd minute. Manfredo Marquez scored 3-1 in the 55th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gernando Galvão, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. André Melo kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. Gernando Galvão made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Waldir Cunha in the 66th minute of play. In the 71st minute, Araucaria's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Denílson Mineiro fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Gernando Galvão showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Manfredo Marquez in the 92nd minute of the match. When the referee ended the match the Araucaria players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
