The audience was convinced that Manfredo Marquez's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Beto Peres was relentless in the 44th minute of the game. After the first half Araucaria were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

After a defensive mix-up in Araucaria's zone, Samuel Penha stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Válter Medeiros came out of the goal and Samuel Penha tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Araucaria booed when Guerreiros FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Osvaldinho Neiva didn't get a good kick on the ball. With his leg Beto Peres managed to avoid a goal in the 56thth minute, when Araucaria's Waldir Cunha fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Waldir Cunha blasted a shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Beto Peres having to make a save. Manfredo Marquez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Waldir Cunha managed to get in a good position for a shot. Araucaria's supporters rose to their feet, but Waldir Cunha was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Beto Peres breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Beto Peres showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Manfredo Marquez in the 87th minute of the match. After having played for 94 minutes, Manfredo Marquez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Araucaria's supporters crossed their fingers, but Manfredo Marquez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the match was over Araucaria could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Guerreiros FC throughout the match.
