The penalty shot was made by Rubens Maranhense, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of São Gonçalo EC - SUB23's Mazinho Velloso. 0-1. With his leg Vitinho Mendes managed to avoid a goal in the 19thth minute, when São Gonçalo EC - SUB23's Lalla Tufiño fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Vitinho Mendes stood somewhat misplaced when Lalla Tufiño came free in front of goal and shot 1-1 to the left of him in the 20 minute. If Lalla Tufiño had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Medieval Football Club's Vitinho Mendes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dimitris Gaitanakis in the 24th minute of play. After 25 minutes of play, Medieval Football Club's Inácio Mello made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Mazinho Velloso was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 30th minute Leonardo Pena shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mazinho Velloso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Zé Paulo Alvarenga came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the São Gonçalo EC - SUB23 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zé Paulo Alvarenga couldn't finish the play. If Lalla Tufiño had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Lalla Tufiño received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Vitinho Mendes came out and tried to block the shot, but Lalla Tufiño slotted it home off the left post making it 2-2 in the 40th minute. The score stood at 2-2 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Leonardo Pena to strike the kick off in the second half. Manfredo Pontes kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. If Lalla Tufiño had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Medieval Football Club's Rubens Maranhense got a free kick in the 56th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Lalla Tufiño managed to get in a good position for a shot. São Gonçalo EC - SUB23's supporters rose to their feet, but Lalla Tufiño was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vitinho Mendes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 61 minutes, Inácio Mello mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Medieval Football Club and the São Gonçalo EC - SUB23 players grew even worse after the yellow card. After some careless play in the Medieval Football Club defense, Lalla Tufiño kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Vitinho Mendes. The Medieval Football Club fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Vitinho Mendes should have stopped the shot. Mazinho Velloso was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Leonardo Pena showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-3 in the 68 minute of play. If Lalla Tufiño had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Zé Paulo Alvarenga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 76th minute, Lalla Tufiño left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The São Gonçalo EC - SUB23 fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-3. Dimitris Gaitanakis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After having played for 82 minutes, Perivaldo Valladares managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. São Gonçalo EC - SUB23's supporters crossed their fingers, but Perivaldo Valladares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Vitinho Mendes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Lalla Tufiño's shot from short distance in the 91st minute. When the match had gone on for 91 minutes, Lalla Tufiño put it in 5-3 from a short distance just to the right of Vitinho Mendes. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Lalla Tufiño in the 96th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vitinho Mendes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. São Gonçalo EC - SUB23 had played much better football throughout.
