Zé Paulo Alvarenga charged in rather forcefully in the 3rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Zé Paulo Alvarenga the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Zé Paulo Alvarenga hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. After 4 played minutes, Corinthians's Kléberson Massa shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Mazinho Velloso came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Corinthians reached it. In the 5th minute Anísio Ferreira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mazinho Velloso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Corinthians's zone, Lalla Tufiño stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cristiano Messias came out of the goal and Lalla Tufiño tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 9 minutes into the match, Corinthians's goal looked a bit too open when Viktor Nordström came free, but Cristiano Messias reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Corinthians's Cristiano Messias played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Viktor Nordström in the 9th minute of play. Cristiano Messias showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lalla Tufiño, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. If Lalla Tufiño had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dimitris Gaitanakis recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Perivaldo Valladares sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dimitris Gaitanakis in the 40th minute of play forced Corinthians's goalkeeper Cristiano Messias to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lalla Tufiño struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Cristiano Messias didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for São Gonçalo EC - SUB23. In the 43rd minute, Lalla Tufiño ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cristiano Messias was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

Perivaldo Valladares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristiano Messias having to interfere. Lalla Tufiño received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Cristiano Messias tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cristiano Messias made a fantastic save in the 63rd minute, when Lalla Tufiño sent off a good shot on target. Mazinho Velloso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sílvio Luís Rossi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. João Pedro Montenegro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mazinho Velloso having to interfere. Cristiano Messias was a little too slow when Lalla Tufiño got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 72nd minute. The score was now 0-4. If Zé Paulo Alvarenga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Manfredo Pontes took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 82nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Cristiano Messias. Corinthians's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Dimitris Gaitanakis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristiano Messias having to interfere. São Gonçalo EC - SUB23's Dimitris Gaitanakis got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Lalla Tufiño received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Cristiano Messias tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience held their breath when Kléberson Massa in the 99th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Mazinho Velloso's left hand side. São Gonçalo EC - SUB23's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
