Spectators: 7232 (Terracing: 5426, Seating: 1663, VIP seats: 143) Habibes's Breno Peixoto started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Tostão Peixoto was out of position in the 5 minute of play, and Beto Bezerra capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Beto Bezerra really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. In the 15th minute, Beto Bezerra hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mathias Trancoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Breno Peixoto in the 17th minute of play. Expressinho's Mathias Trancoso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Breno Peixoto in the 24th minute of play. After having played for 26 minutes, Waldir Salles managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Habibes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Waldir Salles was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Waldir Salles struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Mathias Trancoso didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Habibes. If Breno Peixoto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 42 minutes into the match, Expressinho's goal looked a bit too open when Waldir Salles came free, but Mathias Trancoso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Waldir Salles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mathias Trancoso having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

When Álvaro Tinoco came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the Expressinho fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Álvaro Tinoco couldn't finish the play. Tostão Peixoto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Beto Bezerra in the 58th minute of play. A collision led to Expressinho getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Artur Vaz hit a great ball. Waldir Salles received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Mathias Trancoso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tostão Peixoto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Álvaro Tinoco, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. If Álvaro Tinoco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 78 played minutes Habibes got a freekick which was hit by Doriva Palmeira. Beto Bezerra took the ball and in the 83 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tostão Peixoto. Tostão Peixoto dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. The supporters of Habibes booed when Expressinho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Isaltino Pernambucano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Many of Habibes's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Habibes may have spent more time on the ball, but Expressinho were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
