Spectators: 7022 (Terracing: 5422, Seating: 1500, VIP seats: 100) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Mauro Carioca started the match with the kick off. When Antônio Carlos Pontes fell near the penalty area in the 5th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Alagoas AD's protests and gave Antônio Carlos Pontes a yellow card for diving instead. After 5 played minutes Alagoas AD got a freekick which was hit by Antônio Carlos Pontes. Dênis Botelho was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 6th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 7th minute Giovanni Quirino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alfredo Costa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Romeu Leite in the 16thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Rodrigo Vieira, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After 21 played minutes Alagoas AD got a freekick which was hit by Vitório Fernandez. In the 22nd minute of the match Dênis Botelho sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Alfredo Costa skillfully saved the ball. Rodrigo Vieira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mauro Carioca, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Romeu Leite sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 31st minute Adriano Lara suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. Romeu Leite's late challenge caught a Torneiros EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Romeu Leite helped the player get up and apologised. Romeu Leite hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. In the 34th minute the ball was on its way in behind Torneiros EC's goalkeeper Rodrigo Vieira, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 38th minute Augusto Galvão suffered a knee injury and had to be helped off the field. 42 minutes into the game, Dieguinho Viana was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Alagoas AD's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Torneiros EC the free kick. 45 minutes into the match, Torneiros EC's goalkeeper Rodrigo Vieira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Antônio Carlos Pontes. In the 47th minute, Cafu Capixaba ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rodrigo Vieira was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Giovanni Quirino made a kick off. Romeu Leite received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Rodrigo Vieira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Antônio Carlos Pontes in the 55th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rodrigo Vieira prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Armandinho Vasconcelos fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Torneiros EC's protests and gave Armandinho Vasconcelos a yellow card for diving instead. If Giovanni Quirino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Torneiros EC's Armandinho Vasconcelos got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Giovanni Quirino might have been able to make a better finish in the 67th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alfredo Costa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Giovanni Quirino ran back to his position shaking his head. 69 minutes into the match, Romeu Leite notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Torneiros EC's Rodrigo Vieira. Rodrigo Vieira was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 72nd match minute, Alagoas AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Afonsinho Mineiro to maneuver through the defense. Luís Fabiano do Vale kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. After having played for 76 minutes, Giovanni Quirino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Torneiros EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Giovanni Quirino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rodrigo Vieira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Romeu Leite in the 82nd minute of play. Romeu Leite sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 85 minutes, Cafu Capixaba managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Alagoas AD's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cafu Capixaba was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Antônio Carlos Pontes was shown his second yellow card after 88 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 89th minute, Antônio Carlos Pontes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mauro Carioca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rodrigo Vieira came out of the goal in the 93rd minute to try and stop a shot by Alagoas AD's Cafu Capixaba. But to his dismay, Cafu Capixaba quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. There was no doubt that Alagoas AD were the better team. Alagoas AD's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
