In the 21st minute there was a penalty for Marsal. Robinho Bezerra stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Alfredo Costa. 1-2. In the 24th minute Orlando Guedes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alfredo Costa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Mauro Carioca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marsal's Vinícius Borges played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Romeu Leite in the 32nd minute of play. Mauro Carioca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Vinícius Borges tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Alagoas AD's Mauro Carioca in 45 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Vinícius Borges guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. Romeu Leite received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Vinícius Borges tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alagoas AD's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Marsal the free kick. 53 minutes into the match, Alagoas AD's goal looked a bit too open when Orlando Guedes came free, but Alfredo Costa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vinícius Borges made an important save on a dangerous shot by Romeu Leite in the 58th minute. Paulinho Matorin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfredo Costa having to interfere. Vinícius Borges came out of the goal in the 66th minute to try and stop a shot by Alagoas AD's Romeu Leite. But to his dismay, Romeu Leite quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Paulinho Matorin in the 72nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Alfredo Costa saved Alagoas AD from getting behind. Paulinho Matorin kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. Nilton Monteiro hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. Mauro Carioca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vinícius Borges having to interfere. Mauro Carioca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Mauro Carioca came up free with the goalie in the 87th minute, the Alagoas AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mauro Carioca couldn't finish the play. Alfredo Costa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulinho Matorin, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. When the match was over Alagoas AD could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Marsal throughout the match.
