Spectators: 7044 (Terracing: 5444, Seating: 1500, VIP seats: 100) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Mauro Carioca started the match with the kick off. Vitinho Nogueira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 2nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alfredo Costa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dráuzio Galvão, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. Alfredo Costa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dráuzio Galvão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dráuzio Galvão took the ball and in the 6 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Alfredo Costa. Alfredo Costa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. If Mauro Carioca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 19 minutes into the match, Caveira Taubate FC's goal looked a bit too open when Mauro Carioca came free, but Osmar Varela reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Caveira Taubate FC defense, Mauro Carioca kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Osmar Varela. The Caveira Taubate FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Osmar Varela should have stopped the shot. 23 minutes into the match, Caveira Taubate FC's goalkeeper Osmar Varela had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Romeu Leite. Mauro Carioca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Osmar Varela tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Basílio Rocha during the 38th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Osmar Varela made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mauro Carioca in the 39th minute of play. During the 40th minute of the match Basílio Rocha completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Basílio Rocha a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Valdir Sarmento during the 43rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dráuzio Galvão was the one to do the kick off. Dráuzio Galvão who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 53rdth minute tested the skills of Alfredo Costa when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Antônio Carlos Pontes kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. Mauro Carioca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Osmar Varela tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 59 minutes of play, Alagoas AD's Romeu Leite made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Osmar Varela was left in no man's land by his defense there! 62 minutes into the match, Caveira Taubate FC's goal looked a bit too open when Romeu Leite came free, but Osmar Varela reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Romeu Leite in the 67th minute of play forced Caveira Taubate FC's goalkeeper Osmar Varela to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Mauro Carioca managed to get in a good position for a shot. Alagoas AD's supporters rose to their feet, but Mauro Carioca was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Osmar Varela breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Aloísio Prestes hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. In the 81st minute, Romeu Leite left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Alagoas AD fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-1. After 86 played minutes Caveira Taubate FC got a freekick which was hit by Vitinho Nogueira. In the 87th minute of the match Vitório Fernandez shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Osmar Varela showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. When the referee ended the match the Alagoas AD players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
