Christiano França started the match with the kick off. 3 minutes into the match, Silvério Tavares notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Princesa Sport Clube's Ian Fernandez. Ian Fernandez was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When the match clock showed 8 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Silvério Tavares sped through Princesa Sport Clube's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Ian Fernandez. Ian Fernandez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Válbson Cruz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ian Fernandez came out of the goal in the 14th minute to try and stop a shot by Cruzeiro Paulista's Silvério Tavares. But to his dismay, Silvério Tavares quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. After having played for 20 minutes, Silvério Tavares managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cruzeiro Paulista's supporters crossed their fingers, but Silvério Tavares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 21 minutes, Luiz Gustavo da Mata mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Princesa Sport Clube and the Cruzeiro Paulista players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Princesa Sport Clube's Luiz Gustavo da Mata got a free kick in the 22nd minute. In the 24th minute, one of Cruzeiro Paulista:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Cruzeiro Paulista. Leandro Castro hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. Silvério Tavares sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 45th minute, Silvério Tavares ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ian Fernandez was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

If Christiano França had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Cruzeiro Paulista defense, Christiano França kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Carlos Paiva. The Cruzeiro Paulista fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Carlos Paiva should have stopped the shot. A very good chance. 64 minutes into the game, Percival Varela was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cruzeiro Paulista's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Princesa Sport Clube the free kick. Percival Varela hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. Carlos Paiva took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Christiano França, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Jeremias Pereira fell near the penalty area in the 73rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cruzeiro Paulista's protests and gave Jeremias Pereira a yellow card for diving instead. In the 73rd match minute, Cruzeiro Paulista was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jeremias Pereira to maneuver through the defense. Cruzeiro Paulista's Carlos Paiva played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mané Borges in the 80th minute of play. Mané Borges received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Carlos Paiva tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the Princesa Sport Clube defense, Válbson Cruz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ian Fernandez. The Princesa Sport Clube fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ian Fernandez should have stopped the shot. The Princesa Sport Clube fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Cruzeiro Paulista were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
