In the 17th match minute, Tropa de Elite was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vítor Paes to maneuver through the defense. If Hugo Salgado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 21 minutes into the game, Hugo Salgado cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Juninho Montenegro was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Cícero Batista charged in rather forcefully in the 28th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cícero Batista the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 28 played minutes Irece got a freekick which was hit by Cícero Batista. Anderson de Andrade kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. In the 35th minute, Cícero Batista hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Umberto Maranhense struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Caetano Queiroz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tropa de Elite. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hugo Salgado got free with Juninho Montenegro in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Perivaldo de Souza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juninho Montenegro having to interfere. Hugo Salgado could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 44th minute of the match, but Juninho Montenegro made a huge save. After a rather tough play, Irece's Perivaldo de Souza got a free kick in the 45th minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Umberto Maranhense to strike the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Hugo Salgado managed to get in a good position for a shot. Irece's supporters rose to their feet, but Hugo Salgado was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Juninho Montenegro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Tropa de Elite's Juninho Montenegro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tony Brito in the 59th minute of play. In the 60th match minute, Irece was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Perivaldo de Souza to maneuver through the defense. Umberto Maranhense was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 63rd minute. Tropa de Elite's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Tony Brito received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Juninho Montenegro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 69 minutes, Hugo Salgado made it 3-0 with a short kick to the right side. Tropa de Elite's Juninho Montenegro tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Tropa de Elite booed when Irece was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cícero Batista didn't get a good kick on the ball. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Irece fully deserved thier win.
