In the 3rd minute Percival Varela shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Naldo Mendes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Silvério Tavares in the 5th minute of play forced Patcha FC's goalkeeper Naldo Mendes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Waldemar Dionísio in the 9th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Carlos Paiva prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Patcha FC's Naldo Mendes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 11th minute of the match, managed to save Patcha FC from getting a goal against them. After 12 played minutes Patcha FC got a freekick which was hit by Giuseppe Ribeiro. Patcha FC's Léo Gomes got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Waldemar Dionísio managed to get in a good position for a shot. Patcha FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Waldemar Dionísio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Carlos Paiva breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Cruzeiro Paulista's zone, Waldemar Dionísio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Carlos Paiva came out of the goal and Waldemar Dionísio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 25 minutes, Léo Gomes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Patcha FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Léo Gomes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Jeremias Pereira fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cruzeiro Paulista's protests and gave Jeremias Pereira a yellow card for diving instead. Léo Gomes kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Waldemar Dionísio in the 31st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Carlos Paiva saved Cruzeiro Paulista from getting behind. A collision led to Cruzeiro Paulista getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Walmir Bastos hit a great ball. In the 32nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Cruzeiro Paulista's goalkeeper Carlos Paiva, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Waldemar Dionísio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Léo Gomes in the 37th minute of play forced Cruzeiro Paulista's goalkeeper Carlos Paiva to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Waldemar Dionísio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Carlos Paiva tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cruzeiro Paulista's Carlos Paiva played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Léo Gomes in the 40th minute of play. Waldemar Dionísio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Carlos Paiva tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Léo Gomes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Paiva having to interfere. After 47 played minutes Cruzeiro Paulista got a freekick which was hit by Silvério Tavares. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Silvério Tavares was the one to do the kick off. If Léo Gomes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 69th minute, Patcha FC's Durvalino Meireles seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Durvalino Meireles the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Patcha FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Durvalino Meireles had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Naldo Mendes had in the 71stth minute some difficulties stopping Ramiro de Sena's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. 71 minutes into the game, Cruzeiro Paulista's Ramiro de Sena nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Naldo Mendes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Waldemar Dionísio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Paiva having to interfere. Waldemar Dionísio struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Carlos Paiva didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Patcha FC. Waldemar Dionísio who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 90thth minute tested the skills of Carlos Paiva when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Waldemar Dionísio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 97 minutes into the match, Patcha FC's Waldemar Dionísio sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Carlos Paiva narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When the referee blew the final whistle, Cruzeiro Paulista could leave the field as winners, despite Patcha FC having more of the ball for most of the match.
