The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Nilton Sergipano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hugo Salgado, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nilton Sergipano came out of the goal in the 6th minute to try and stop a shot by Irece's Hugo Salgado. But to his dismay, Hugo Salgado quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Frank Xavier sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tony Brito in the 19th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nilton Sergipano prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Nilton Sergipano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tony Brito, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. When Irece's Hugo Salgado in the 22nd minute got a chance for a shot 22nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Upá Porks's goalie prevented a goal. Victor Paes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Caetano Queiroz having to interfere. Victor Paes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 30th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cícero Batista's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nilton Sergipano read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 38th minute of play. Nilton Sergipano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tony Brito in the 41st minute of play. 43 minutes into the match, Tony Brito notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Upá Porks's Nilton Sergipano. Nilton Sergipano was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Frank Xavier to make the kick off. Frank Xavier might have been able to make a better finish in the 51st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Caetano Queiroz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Frank Xavier ran back to his position shaking his head. Hugo Salgado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Nilton Sergipano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tony Brito received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tony Brito in the 82nd minute of play forced Upá Porks's goalkeeper Nilton Sergipano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
