Alfredo Castro might have been able to make a better finish in the 2nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hélio Silva. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Alfredo Castro ran back to his position shaking his head. Marajazinho's Patrick Arantes got a good chance for a goal in the 4th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Itapoama FC's Danilo Eger proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 6th minute of the match, managed to save Itapoama FC from getting a goal against them. Didi Salles sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 20th minute Alfredo Castro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hélio Silva saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 27 minutes into the match, Itapoama FC's Ediberto Soeiro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Hélio Silva narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Itapoama FC's Danilo Eger played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Patrick Arantes in the 30th minute of play. If Didi Salles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Didi Salles could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match, but Danilo Eger made a huge save. After some careless play in the Marajazinho defense, Ediberto Soeiro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Hélio Silva. The Marajazinho fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hélio Silva should have stopped the shot. When Didi Salles came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Marajazinho fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Didi Salles couldn't finish the play. After having played for 42 minutes, Dieguinho Leme managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Itapoama FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dieguinho Leme was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ediberto Soeiro was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Alfredo Castro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alfredo Castro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Hélio Silva made a huge save. Itapoama FC's Danilo Eger played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Didi Salles in the 58th minute of play. Didi Salles struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Danilo Eger didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Marajazinho. Danilo Eger showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Didi Salles in the 62nd minute of the match. If Ediberto Soeiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alfredo Castro got free with Hélio Silva in the 71st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Marajazinho's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Ediberto Soeiro 75 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 0-2. In the 81st minute Didi Salles shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Danilo Eger saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Didi Salles took the ball and in the 84 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Danilo Eger. Danilo Eger dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. After a defensive mix-up in Itapoama FC's zone, Patrick Arantes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Danilo Eger came out of the goal and Patrick Arantes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 90 played minutes Marajazinho got a freekick which was hit by Luís Fábio Netto. Ediberto Soeiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Hélio Silva tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hélio Silva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ediberto Soeiro in the 96th minute of play.
