The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alexsandro Valle during the 4th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Alexsandro Valle kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. Bento Gonçalves F.C.'s Albertinho de Queiroz couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 5th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Alcatéia FC. An unexpectedly hard shot by Matías Mendonça in the 7th minute of play forced Alcatéia FC's goalkeeper Zé Pedro Goiano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Armandinho Ramalho was extremely unlucky when he, in the 10th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. After 17 played minutes Alcatéia FC got a freekick which was hit by Armandinho Ramalho. After 27 played minutes Bento Gonçalves F.C. got a freekick which was hit by José Paulo Cardozo. If Júlio Ceresso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 41st minute Antônio Carlos Cearense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zé Pedro Goiano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Armandinho Ramalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Armandinho Ramalho made the kick off in the second half. Zé Pedro Goiano made an important save on a dangerous shot by Narciso Oliveira in the 51st minute. In the 54th minute, Matías Mendonça reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Zé Pedro Goiano. The goal made the score 1-2. After having played for 62 minutes, Júlio Ceresso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Alcatéia FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Júlio Ceresso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Alcatéia FC's Armandinho Ramalho got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Alcatéia FC's Zé Pedro Goiano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Matías Mendonça in the 67th minute of play. Zé Pedro Goiano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Antônio Carlos Cearense, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 72nd match minute, Alcatéia FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Júlio Ceresso to maneuver through the defense. The long shot by Edu Meira in the 74th minute really tested Zé Pedro Goiano's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Antônio Carlos Cearense kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Zé Pedro Goiano. That made the score 1-3 in the 75 minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Bento Gonçalves F.C.'s zone, Armandinho Ramalho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ricardo Paranaense came out of the goal and Armandinho Ramalho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Dedê de Amaral managed to get in a good position for a shot. Alcatéia FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Dedê de Amaral was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ricardo Paranaense breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Zé Pedro Goiano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Matías Mendonça, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. When the final whistle went the supporters of Bento Gonçalves F.C. were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Alcatéia FC side.
