In the 29th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sparta Rotterdam's goalkeeper Elder Gonçalves, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Edvaldo Romero's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Gert Dornak firmly grabbed it by the left post. Genílson Mazza might have been able to make a better finish in the 95th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Elder Gonçalves. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Genílson Mazza ran back to his position shaking his head. If Genílson Mazza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Bruscão da Massa had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
