Francisco Carioca ran back to his position shaking his head. Maicon das Neves charged in rather forcefully in the 24th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Maicon das Neves the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Maicon das Neves hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Anderson Vargas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Bangu Atletic Club's supporters rose to their feet, but Anderson Vargas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Anderson Vargas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Enrique Soares read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 58th minute of play. Enrique Soares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Francisco Carioca, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Foxers Club's zone, Anderson Vargas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Enrique Soares came out of the goal and Anderson Vargas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Foxers Club's Iuri Quadros got a free kick in the 68th minute. 74 minutes into the match, Bangu Atletic Club's goalkeeper Deivid de Salles had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Maurício Ramos. If Rafa Britto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Foxers Club booed when Bangu Atletic Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Frank Neiva didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 85th minute of the match, Rafa Britto got a very nice opportunity to score, but Deivid de Salles was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Francisco Carioca in the 87th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Enrique Soares saved Foxers Club from getting behind. After 88 played minutes Foxers Club got a freekick which was hit by Anísio Paraíba. After 89 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Foxers Club! The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Foxers Club eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
