The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Gilson Brasil could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 3rd minute of the match, but Emílio Veloso made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lenílson de Alcântara in the 5th minute of play forced Aporá FC's goalkeeper Emílio Veloso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Emílio Veloso made a fantastic save in the 7th minute, when Gilson Brasil sent off a good shot on target. In the 14th minute, Carlinhos Pombal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gilson Brasil recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Gilson Brasil fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emílio Veloso having to interfere. A collision led to Aporá FC getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Carlinhos Pombal hit a great ball. If Lenílson de Alcântara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Zé Roberto Marinho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd rose to their feet as Lenílson de Alcântara kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Emílio Veloso. That made the score 1-0 in the 46 minute of play.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Betinho Pimenta to make the kick off. In the 52nd match minute, Aporá FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by João Paulo Maranhense to maneuver through the defense. Lenílson de Alcântara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emílio Veloso having to interfere. Gilson Brasil sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Betinho Pimenta's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Yan Loyola read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 59th minute of play. Lenílson de Alcântara recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Gilson Brasil sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 70th minute of the match Tupi EC got a corner. Aporá FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luís Fábio Brito ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Tupi EC's Luís Fábio Brito to fire away a dangerous shot which Emílio Veloso despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 73 minutes into the match, Aporá FC's goal looked a bit too open when Gilson Brasil came free, but Emílio Veloso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Aporá FC's Emílio Veloso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gilson Brasil in the 74th minute of play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 83rd minute of the game. One of Tupi EC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Aporá FC:s goal. In the 86th minute there was a penalty for Aporá FC. Zeca Neto stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Yan Loyola. 2-1. Yan Loyola made an important save on a dangerous shot by Zé Roberto Marinho in the 91st minute. In the 95th minute, Betinho Pimenta fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Yan Loyola, passed just outside the right post. If Zé Roberto Marinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tupi EC were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Aporá FC for a fine match.
