Aporá FC's Emílio Veloso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eurico Varela in the 15th minute of play. Carlinhos Pombal kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. 20 minutes into the game, Valério Fernandez cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Emílio Veloso was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Betinho Pimenta in the 25th minute of play forced Otavianos FC's goalkeeper Ulysses Secco to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 26th minute Eurico Varela shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emílio Veloso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 31 played minutes Aporá FC got a freekick which was hit by João Paulo Maranhense. In the 47th minute, Sílvio Luís Severo had to leave the field with a concussion. 47 minutes into the game, Carlinhos Pombal was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Aporá FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Otavianos FC the free kick. After 48 played minutes Aporá FC got a freekick which was hit by Carlinhos Pombal. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Valério Fernandez made a kick off. Betinho Pimenta took the ball and in the 61 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ulysses Secco. Ulysses Secco dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Ulysses Secco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zé Roberto Marinho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Aporá FC defense, Valério Fernandez kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Emílio Veloso. The Aporá FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Emílio Veloso should have stopped the shot. Betinho Pimenta blasted a shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ulysses Secco having to make a save. Zé Roberto Marinho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Ulysses Secco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Otavianos FC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
