An unexpectedly hard shot by Eurico Varela in the 14th minute of play forced Criciuma Tigers's goalkeeper Gilberto de Mendonça to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eurico Varela fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gilberto de Mendonça having to interfere. Rubinho Vargas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ulysses Secco having to interfere. Gilberto de Mendonça took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eurico Varela, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Criciuma Tigers's zone, Valério Fernandez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gilberto de Mendonça came out of the goal and Valério Fernandez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 26th minute, Eurico Varela got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience was convinced that Eurico Varela's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gilberto de Mendonça was relentless in the 29th minute of the game. Gilberto de Mendonça took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Valério Fernandez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Valério Fernandez scored 0-1 in the 33rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gilberto de Mendonça, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Ulysses Secco came out of the goal in the 37th minute to try and stop a shot by Criciuma Tigers's Rubinho Vargas. But to his dismay, Rubinho Vargas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Ulysses Secco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from João Augusto Maranhense in the 42nd minute of play. Armando Baiano was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 46 minutes into the match. In the 46th minute, one of Criciuma Tigers:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Criciuma Tigers. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Rubinho Vargas was the one to do the kick off. Rubinho Vargas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Ulysses Secco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Otavianos FC's Ulysses Secco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rubinho Vargas in the 59th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rubinho Vargas in the 60th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ulysses Secco prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a defensive mix-up in Criciuma Tigers's zone, Valério Fernandez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gilberto de Mendonça came out of the goal and Valério Fernandez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 68 minutes into the match, Otavianos FC's Eurico Varela sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gilberto de Mendonça narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Rubinho Vargas struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Ulysses Secco didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Criciuma Tigers. Criciuma Tigers's Gilberto de Mendonça played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eurico Varela in the 74th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 78th minute, Eurico Varela managed to get in a good position for a shot. Otavianos FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Eurico Varela was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gilberto de Mendonça breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Valério Fernandez in the 84thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Gilberto de Mendonça, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. If Eurico Varela had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Jonathan Vides kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. Eurico Varela sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Eurico Varela received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Gilberto de Mendonça tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Valério Fernandez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 100th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Otavianos FC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
