After 5 played minutes João Augusto Maranhense rounded TATETUBA's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-0. Régis Braga struck a weak shot in the 10th minute. Gilberto de Mendonça didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for TATETUBA. After 13 played minutes, TATETUBA's Caco Batista shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Gilberto de Mendonça came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in TATETUBA reached it. After a defensive mix-up in TATETUBA's zone, João Augusto Maranhense stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wellington Souto came out of the goal and João Augusto Maranhense tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 17 minutes into the match, TATETUBA's goalkeeper Wellington Souto had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rubinho Vargas. Lucas de Medeiros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Gilberto de Mendonça tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 20 played minutes Criciuma Tigers got a freekick which was hit by Telmo Arruda. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Lucas de Medeiros managed to get in a good position for a shot. TATETUBA's supporters rose to their feet, but Lucas de Medeiros was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gilberto de Mendonça breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 22nd match minute, Criciuma Tigers was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Armando Baiano to maneuver through the defense. If João Augusto Maranhense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, TATETUBA's Wellington Souto got control of the ball when Rubinho Vargas tried to sneak it across the goal line. Wellington Souto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Augusto Maranhense, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. Diogo Batista kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. After 40 played minutes, Criciuma Tigers's Armando Baiano shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Wellington Souto came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Criciuma Tigers reached it. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Laércio de Senna in the 46th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gilberto de Mendonça saved Criciuma Tigers from getting behind. Lucas de Medeiros sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. João Augusto Maranhense was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rubinho Vargas in the 54th minute of play forced TATETUBA's goalkeeper Wellington Souto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wellington Souto stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rubinho Vargas's shot from short distance in the 55th minute. In the 60th minute, Rubinho Vargas ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Wellington Souto was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. 76 minutes into the match, Criciuma Tigers's Rubinho Vargas sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Wellington Souto narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 78 minutes into the game, TATETUBA's Laércio de Senna nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gilberto de Mendonça made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. If Laércio de Senna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 83 played minutes Criciuma Tigers got a freekick which was hit by Eliseu Monteiro. Lucas de Medeiros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gilberto de Mendonça having to interfere. 89 minutes into the match, Criciuma Tigers's goal looked a bit too open when Lucas de Medeiros came free, but Gilberto de Mendonça reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gilberto de Mendonça made a fantastic save in the 91st minute, when Laércio de Senna sent off a good shot on target. Rubinho Vargas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Rubinho Vargas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wellington Souto having to interfere. For all the effort they put into the match, the TATETUBA players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Criciuma Tigers.
