Clube Atlético Capitari's Chico Munhoz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vladimir Bastos in the 31st minute of play. 39 minutes into the match, Clube Atlético Capitari's Elano Marquez sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Christiano Arósio narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After having played for 40 minutes, Dino Quirino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Clube Atlético Capitari's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dino Quirino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Dino Quirino came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the Clube Atlético Capitari fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dino Quirino couldn't finish the play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

In the 81st minute, Dino Quirino got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 83 minutes into the match, Claretiana's goal looked a bit too open when Elano Marquez came free, but Christiano Arósio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Silas das Neves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Chico Munhoz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Vladimir Bastos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 93 minutes into the match, Elano Marquez had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Christiano Arósio. Claretiana's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Elano Marquez was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Clube Atlético Capitari fans cheered their team off the field, for while Claretiana had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
