The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute, Vladimir Bastos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Pedro Luiz Albuquerque made an important save on a dangerous shot by Vladimir Bastos in the 6th minute. An unexpected shot in the 8th minute by Vladimir Bastos got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The supporters of GreenBlack FC booed when Claretiana was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ismael Prata didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Víktor Corrêa in the 19th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Christiano Arósio saved Claretiana from getting behind. When Ismael Prata fell near the penalty area in the 19th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Claretiana's protests and gave Ismael Prata a yellow card for diving instead. Ismael Prata hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Pedro Luiz Albuquerque was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 22nd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Jerônimo Sousa. After 25 minutes of play, Claretiana's Vladimir Bastos made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Pedro Luiz Albuquerque was left in no man's land by his defense there! The audience thought a goal was coming when Vladimir Bastos got free with Pedro Luiz Albuquerque in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Silas das Neves came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Claretiana fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Silas das Neves couldn't finish the play. If Víktor Corrêa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alfredo Damião fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Christiano Arósio having to interfere. 42 minutes into the match, Claretiana's Vladimir Bastos sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Pedro Luiz Albuquerque narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Enrique Torres during the 47th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Toninho Rossi shot the penalty kick right outside the post.

55 minutes into the game, Conrado Messias was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. GreenBlack FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Claretiana the free kick. In the 56th minute, Conrado Messias hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 57 played minutes Claretiana got a freekick which was hit by Jerônimo Sousa. Silas das Neves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 64th minute the ball was on its way in behind GreenBlack FC's goalkeeper Pedro Luiz Albuquerque, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Silas das Neves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Pedro Luiz Albuquerque tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Christiano Arósio made an important save on a dangerous shot by Guga de Senna in the 69th minute. When Fiori Berger fell near the penalty area in the 71st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Claretiana players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
