Jonathan Armstrong showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edu Torres in the 17th minute of the match. Edu Torres fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Armstrong having to interfere. 22 minutes into the game, Eurico Azevedo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Jonathan Armstrong was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a rather tough play, Palmeiras's Walmyr Fantini got a free kick in the 25th minute. 30 minutes into the game, Cafu Ribeiro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Palmeiras's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Itacolomi EC the free kick. Cafu Ribeiro kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match.
