Cruzeiro EC's Válter Cavalcante played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Christiano Diniz in the 6th minute of play. In the 7th minute, Róbson Maranhense hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 12thth minute of the game Christiano Diniz who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Cruzeiro EC's Válter Cavalcante was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 12th match minute, Cruzeiro EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Róbson Maranhense to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Cruzeiro EC's zone, Christiano Diniz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Válter Cavalcante came out of the goal and Christiano Diniz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 20th minute Christiano Diniz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Válter Cavalcante saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When João Augusto Fernandez fell near the penalty area in the 21st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cruzeiro EC's protests and gave João Augusto Fernandez a yellow card for diving instead. After 21 played minutes Cruzeiro EC got a freekick which was hit by João Augusto Fernandez. 23 minutes into the game, Santa Lúcia FC's Sandrinho Bittencourt nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Válter Cavalcante made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Cruzeiro EC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. In the 42nd minute, Christiano Diniz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Válter Cavalcante showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Christiano Diniz, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. Nicolas Loyola blasted a shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Válter Cavalcante having to make a save.

After a rather tough play, Cruzeiro EC's João Augusto Fernandez got a free kick in the 57th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nicolas Loyola got free with Válter Cavalcante in the 64th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Sandrinho Bittencourt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Santa Lúcia FC's Christiano Diniz in the 72nd minute got a chance for a shot 72nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. After 86 minutes of play, Santa Lúcia FC's Nicolas Loyola made it 0-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Válter Cavalcante was left in no man's land by his defense there! Nicolas Loyola received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Válter Cavalcante tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the final whistle sounded Santa Lúcia FC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Cruzeiro EC.
