Rubinho do Vale made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Beto Leal in the 20th minute of play. Edvaldo Alvarenga received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Dida de Moraes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 32nd minute Nelson Baptista shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rubinho do Vale saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rubinho do Vale showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Beto Leal in the 36th minute of the match. Nelson Baptista sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 47 minutes of play, Maciel FC's Célio Pombal made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rubinho do Vale was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Edvaldo Alvarenga was the one to do the kick off. In the 53rdth minute of the game Beto Leal who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Montese FC's Rubinho do Vale was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 54th match minute, Montese FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alberto Moreira to maneuver through the defense. Nelson Baptista struck a weak shot in the 63rd minute. Rubinho do Vale didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Maciel FC.
