The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 7th minute of the game. One of E. C. Fernandes:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Maroto AD:s goal. The referee gave Maroto AD a penalty, 9 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Otávio Salgado, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of E. C. Fernandes's Nicolas Nascimento. 0-1. After 12 played minutes E. C. Fernandes got a freekick which was hit by Luiz Fernando Peres. 0-2 became the score in the 13th minute when Leandro Brito elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. In the 19thth minute of the game Eugênio Carioca who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Maroto AD's Joaquim Gonçalves was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Joaquim Gonçalves made a fantastic save in the 22nd minute, when Albertinho Lago sent off a good shot on target. Joaquim Gonçalves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eugênio Carioca, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Glauco Lira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. E. C. Fernandes's Albertinho Lago got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Leandro Brito sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Glauco Lira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Nicolas Nascimento tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the E. C. Fernandes defense, Leandro Brito kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nicolas Nascimento. The E. C. Fernandes fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nicolas Nascimento should have stopped the shot. When Glauco Lira came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Maroto AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Glauco Lira couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Glauco Lira in the 48th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nicolas Nascimento saved E. C. Fernandes from getting behind.

In the 54th minute of the match E. C. Fernandes got a corner. Maroto AD's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Sidnei de Medeiros ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led E. C. Fernandes's Sidnei de Medeiros to fire away a dangerous shot which Joaquim Gonçalves despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 57 minutes into the match, Maroto AD's Leandro Brito sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nicolas Nascimento narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Glauco Lira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicolas Nascimento having to interfere. 61 minutes into the match, Maroto AD's goal looked a bit too open when Eugênio Carioca came free, but Joaquim Gonçalves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Albertinho Lago's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Joaquim Gonçalves read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 64th minute of play. E. C. Fernandes's Eugênio Carioca got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 81 minutes into the match, Albertinho Lago notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of Maroto AD's Joaquim Gonçalves. Joaquim Gonçalves was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Nicolas Nascimento showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leandro Brito in the 90th minute of the match. Joaquim Gonçalves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Albertinho Lago, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Maroto AD's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
