In the 80thth minute of the game Deivid Pitta who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Uruguaiana's Róbson Pires was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Gino Ribeiro came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Equador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gino Ribeiro couldn't finish the play. When Deivid Pitta in the 84th play minute got the chance to kick a hard shot on goal from short distance neither the defense or Róbson Pires kept up with the ball and suddenly the score was 0-5 when the ball slipped into goal inside the left pole. Róbson Pires came out of the goal in the 99th minute to try and stop a shot by Equador's Deivid Pitta. But to his dismay, Deivid Pitta quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-6. The Uruguaiana fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Equador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
